Course Description:
Throughout this intensive foundation course, students aged 10-15 will develop strong technical drawing skills while exercising concept making through a step-by-step progression of core artistic disciplines.
The program begins with Drawing Fundamentals, focusing on line quality and tonal values to strengthen visual observation and spatial manipulation. Students will then continue towards Figure Drawing and Portraiture, wherein they will familiarize themselves with anatomical proportions while practicing accuracy when composing structures.
As the course advances, students will tackle Perspective Drawing and learn how to illustrate depth through the exercise of spatial awareness. This is followed by Compositional Studies, in which the application of the 7 visual elements will be used to achieve aesthetic cohesion and harmony within a frame. The exploration of color media will be introduced through a basic study of Color Theory and how mixing specific palettes can affect the mood and tone of a composition.
Moving from technique to narrative, students enter the Concept development phase wherein through guided brainstorming they can envision their ideas and create compelling stories in their works. This practice enables them to foster their own unique visual language and the capability to impart personality when establishing structural layers in their artworks.
The course culminates with a comprehensive final project through which students will produce a painting that synthesizes all that they had previously learned into a distinct, fully realized, and portfolio-ready masterwork.
